Editorial policy
Active Cinema Review aims to make thoughtful, clear observations about cinema craft. We explain the basis for our interpretations, correct material errors and keep editorial decisions separate from commercial relationships.
Accuracy and interpretation
We check names, film details and other verifiable claims against appropriate sources before publication. Readings of images, performances or story choices are interpretations, not facts about what a filmmaker intended unless that intention is supported by an attributable source. We distinguish what can be seen or heard from what we infer, and avoid presenting uncertain details as settled.
Independence
Editorial choices are made for their relevance to readers and the publication’s subject. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage, a favourable view or control over editorial conclusions. Where access, material support or another relationship could matter to a reader’s understanding, we will explain it clearly.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error or a misleading passage, contact us with the article title and the detail at issue. We review correction requests and amend substantiated errors with an appropriate note when the change affects the substance of a piece. We do not change an interpretation simply because it is disputed, but we will reconsider it if its supporting facts are wrong.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid, sponsored or partner material is identified in clear language so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Partners do not receive an undisclosed editorial endorsement. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when an image is AI-generated, we label it as such where it appears.
A film rewards a closer look.
We slow down the viewing experience without turning it into a test. Attend to a few choices on screen, and the scene can open up in new ways.
